People's Biodiversity Registers (PBRs) are prepared by BMCs in consultation with local communities. They document the availability and knowledge of local biological resources, their medicinal uses and any other traditional knowledge associated with them.
PBRs form the primary knowledge base for Access & Benefit Sharing (ABS) and help panchayats plan conservation of local flora and fauna.
BSBB coordinates with SIRD, universities and NGOs to standardise PBR formats and digitise records for wider accessibility.
